What is computer adaptive assessment?Computer adaptive assessment simply means that as the testee progresses through the test the test adapts to their performance getting more or less difficult as needed. This type of assessment is being adopted nation wide for the new Common Core curriculum and assessment standards. The advantages of computer adaptive assessment are many but perhaps the most notable advantage is that low performing students don't have to go through question after question that is above their level and high performing students can continue to be challenged throughout the assessment. To the right is an example of a computer adaptive form, while not getting more or less difficult, the sequence and type of questions change based on the responses received. This is a free tool that is available through google forms using the page break feature and go to page option.
